Canes Win Again, 5-4
J.C. and I had the privilege of seeing a fantastic hockey game last night. Eric Staal recorded a hat trick and the Canes picked up a couple late 3rd period goals to defeat the Dallas Stars 5-4.
It was a cool game to attend, there was a decent crowd last night, we ran into several people we knew, and both teams played well. It was also J.C.’s first hat trick!
In my opinion, (J.C.’s as well) this was the best hockey game we had seen this season. Both teams skated hard and seemed to be matching eachother blow for blow. Dallas got out to an early 1-0 lead on a power play goal by Jussi Jokinen. Carolina answered with 2 goals of their own(Staal ppg, & Whitney) in the 1st period to take a 2-1 lead to intermission.
Carolina picked up another power play goal from Staal early in the 2nd period to build a seemingly safe, 3-1 lead. The Canes would hold that lead until 2 quick goals from the Stars early in the 3rd period tied things up. Five minutes later, Justin Williams added an unassited beauty to put the Canes up again, 4-3. Staal added an empty netter, (for the hat-trick) and a 5-3 lead. Dallas scored a meaningless goal with .9 seconds left to make it 5-4.
Carolina begins a 3 game road trip now and won’t be back home until 11-28. Tim Gleason and Niclas Wallin returned for the Canes last night.
I have a special request for the Hurricanes. Can we please NOT have the dancing turkey up on the jumbo-tron for the entire game?? I know it’s Thanksgiving and all, and I am thankfull, but everytime I looked up at the scoreboard last night that stupid turkey was dancing and giving the peace sign. Make it go away. I know this won’t be a problem again, seeing as we have no more home games until the 28th, but maybe this will prepare you for next year……or Christmas for that matter. Kill the turkey.
Best thing about the above video is my girlfriend is having a great time! Almost brought a tear to my eye!
