College Football Roundup/Coker, Amato Fired
A lot went down in the world of College Football since I’ve been away. Let’s start with the National Picture-
USC topped Notre Dame, 44-34 and has now moved into the #2 spot in the BCS rankings. If USC beats UCLA they’ll probably wrap up a spot in the National Title Game. I’ll have a post up soon from my good friend Mac Deters explaining some alternatives to this screwed up system we’ve got.
Boise State remained unbeaten and gained a BCS berth, with a 38-7 victory over Nevada.
Florida stayed in the picture beating Florida State, 21-14.
In other news, Miami beat Boston College Thanksgiving night, 17-14, making gabs 0-1 for the day on college picks. The win didn’t matter much as Larry Coker got fired anyway. We all knew this was coming.
Going more local, Wake Forest beat Maryland 38-24 to clinch a spot in the ACC title game vs. Georgia Tech. Congrats goes out to Wake, but I’m gonna go ahead and pick Tech in this one.
Carolina beat Duke 45-44, giving John Bunting a win in his last game as coach of UNC.
Georgia beat Georgia Tech, 15-12.
Last, and of course not least, North Carolina State found a way to lose again, falling to East Carolina, 21-16.
Before I go into a long spill about why Chuck Amato should be fired, let me tell you that CHUCK AMATO HAS BEEN FIRED!
Wolfpack fans are saying Navy’s Paul Johnson is an early candidate. At this point, I’d take just about anyone over Amato. I’ll get more in depth into this firing and the potential hire a little later. NC State finished up this season at 3-9.
