NFL Hits & Misses- Week 10
Well, this was my first week publicly sharing what I thought was my “knowledge”. Somehow, my fantasy team does well, even though I obviously don’t have a crystal ball.
Â
Here are 5 players I got right……and 5 I got wrong
Â
CHA CHING!
Derrick Mason- Gabs take:Â 80 yards and a TD
Actual- 64 yards and a TD- Mason caught 8 passes yesterday. I figured he’d be heavily involved in a rejuvinated Ravens offense. I predicted the Ravens to score 27 points, and they did! (Didn’t count on the Titans scoring 26).
Â
LaDainian Tomlinson- Gabs take- 175 combo yards and 2 TD
Actual- 158 total yards, and 4 TD. Ok, so I missed the 4 TD’s, but I said the Chargers would in this game thanks to L.T. I guess I should have thrown in Philip Rivers as well, the guy played great yesterday.
Â
Frank Gore- Gabs take- 175 total yards, 2 TD
Actual- 173 total yards, 1 TD- Ok, so I TOTALLY blew the outcome of the ballgame but I was all over Frank Gore.
Â
Jericho Cotchery- Gabs take- 100 yards, 1 TD
Actual- 70 yards, 1 TD- Another game that I totally missed, but I figured Cotchery to get loose yesterday and he did. Not 100 yards, but good yards and the TD.
Â
Marion Barber III.- Gabs take- 100 total yards, 2 TD
Actual- 73 total yards, 1 TD- Ok, he didn’t crack 100, and only scored the 1 TD, but you woulda got the drift. I felt Barber DA THIRD was a better start than his backfield partner Julius Jones. Marion is the TD hog in this offense, and breaks off biggers chunks of yardage.
Â
CRASH AND BURN
Marc Bulger- Gabs Take- 300 yards, 3 TD
Actual- 215 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT- I really don’t understand how this happened. Bulger lit the Seahawks up in their first meeting, (360 yards, 3 TD), but the Rams never seemed to really get anything going yesterday. I’ll give you a two for one here since I totally whiffed on Torry Holt as well. Sometimes, things don’t work out according to logic.
Â
Chad Johnson- Gabs take- 85 yards
Actual- Ocho Cinco had the biggest receiving day in Bengals franchise history, hauling in 11 catches, for 260 yards and 2 TD. Come on, who could have predicted that? It’s not as if we don’t know Chad is talented, I think most folks were just waiting for that breakout game. Well, he had it. The Bengals still lost.
Â
The Detroit Lions- Gabs take- I had them putting up 38 points yesterday. I had Kitna at 300 and 3 TD, Roy Williams at 125 and 2 TD, and Kevin Jones at 150 yards and 2 TD.
Actual- The earth is still round, but I totally blew this call. Seriously, how does Santa Clara hold you to 13 points at home? Kitna? 202 yards, 1 TD, 1 pick, 1 lost fumble. Williams? 5 catches, 81 yards, another lost fumble. Jones? 115 yards, 1 fumble lost. I apologize for thinking the Lions could score.
Â
Chester Taylor- Gabs take- 140 combo yards, 2 TD
Actual- 103 combo yards, 1 fumble lost- Chester missed a TD by a hair, fumbling at the goal line. Either way, I thought he’d run all over the Packers yesterday. He didn’t.Â
Â
Travis Henry- Gabs take- I told you to stay away, stay away, stay away.
Actual- 107 yards, 1 TD. The Titans are improving. Vince Young is improving. It’s about time to start giving them more respect. Still can’t believe they moved the ball like they did on Baltimore.
