The Big Old What Happened Post
Well, I am finally back from a long holiday weekend and a lot has happened. I’m going to try and get caught up from the weekend, so I can start fresh tomorrow.
The first order of business is my personal life, which has a huge impact on this site.
So here goes
1. I returned home from Thanksgiving to see a couple of nasty e-mails from YouTube in my inbox. Turns out, that the NFL didn’t take too kindly to my week 12 picks. For anyone that actually saw the videos, they were mostly just me talking, but did include about a minute or so of NFL footage that I recorded from ESPN. There was no sound on these clips, just me talking, and I had my camera zoomed in fairly tight, so it was sorta hard to tell where I got the actual footage. Now, I’m assuming the red flag was raised because of the NFL footage…..at least that’s what I’m hoping. If they are burning me for making picks, we are gonna have some huge problems. Anyway, those 2 videos have been removed by Youtube, so if you click them, you’ll get nada. I am going to get them back up (edited or not, I’m not sure at this point), and I am going to produce a nice rant video on the entire situation with the NFL.
2. Ok, this is the major news. My girlfriend got me the coolest present in the world for my birthday, which was Friday. I am now the proud owner of a MAC! I’ve been using a PC as long as I’ve used computes, so I’m having to “retrain” myself. Not only that, but I’ve got tons of stuff on my old computer, that I really need on the MAC. So….bear with me for the next few days…..I’m learning on the fly, and I was already new to blogging….so, this is a lot for me to take in. I’ll get it down, and the MAC will eventually make this site better.
3. I actually had a friend do a college writeup for me in regard to rules changes and the BCS. I’m going to post it this week….again….as soon as I can get it off my old computer.
4. If my money goes right, this stuff will happen tomorrow, as I want to get a new monitor, so I can put my old monitor on the old computer.
Also, Thursday, I got some nice footage from a parade in Charlotte, NC, and Friday night I got some good stuff from a high school football game. I’ll be posting all that as well.
Now, I’m going to try and take all the major sports, and break them each down in a post of their own.
One for college football, one for the NFL, NHL, college basketball etc.
2 commentsHoliday Weekend
Sorry for the lack of content over this weekend. Been out of town a lot finding it impossible to post. I know lots of news is happening…..hopefully, we’ll be up and running tonight.
Also, wanted everyone to know that the NFL has come down on us for including short highlight segments in our week12 picks videos, thus they have been removed. A new, edited version will be up soon, as well as our official response to the NFL.
No commentsCanes Lose Again, Despite 44 Stops From Grahame
Ok, this road trip is starting to get away from Carolina. Tonight, they lost to the Islanders 4-2, despite 44 freakin stops from the backup goalie! The Canes were outshot 48-15 which is pretty scary. You’re not gonna win many games with that ratio. So, just when it looked like the Canes had taken a couple steps foward…….they take two steps back. Funny, how sport sometimes imitates life.

Wofford Knocks Off Cincinnati
I was a little worried when NCSU was barely able to beat Wofford on opening night. Not feeling so bad now, as the Terrirs have rolled off 4 in a row, including an upset of Cincinnati last night.
No commentsThanksgiving Preview
Well, I’m going to be out of town tomorrow for the Holidays, so I figured I’d go ahead and give a rundown of what to look for tomorrow on television. All times are EST.
9 am- ESPN 2- High School Football- Phillipsburg (NJ) @ Easton (PA)- Gabs Take- Well, if you are one of those people that is stuck cooking early in the morning, you might want to tune the television in to one of the longest standing Thanksgiving traditions in High School Football. Tomorrow morning marks the 100th meeting between these two schools, and the game will be aired LIVE on ESPN 2. I’ll be honest, I have no clue as to the talent level of either of these teams, but I’m still gonna make a pick- Phillipsburg 27 Easton 21
12 Noon- ESPN2- College Basketball- Arkansas vs. Southern Illinois- The Old Spice Classic tips off from Orlando Florida. Gabs Take- Arkansas by 5
12:30- CBS- NFL Football Miami @ Detroit - Best way to start Thanksgiving is with a game you don’t care about. This game qualifies for me. Gabs Take- Detroit 20 Miami 17
2:00- ESPN2- College Basketball- Marist vs. Minnesota-Old Spice Classic- Ok, you can watch this game if you don’t care about football. Gabs Take- I’ll take the Gophers by 15.
4:30- FOX- NFL Football- Tampa Bay @ Dallas- Hopefully I won’t be passed out from stuffing myself at this point. Gabs Take- Dallas 27 Tampa Bay 13
7:30- ESPN2- College Basketball- Virginia Tech vs. Western Michigan- More of the Old Spice Classic. Gabs Take- Tech by 10.
8:00- NFL- NFL Football- Denver @ Kansas City- Won’t matter, you can’t watch this game unless you’ve got the ticket. The NFL is gradually slipping away from the common man. Gabs Take- Kansas City 21 Denver 13
8:00- ESPN- College Football- Boston College @ Miami- Here’s to hoping the Eagles turn Miami into a turkey. Gabs Take- Boston College 28 Miami 17
9:30- ESPN2- College Basketball- Old Spice Classic- Montana vs. West Virginia- I’ll be watching Grey’s Anatomy with my girlfriend by this point. Gabs Take- West Virginia by 20
Midnight- ESPN2- College Basketball- Great Alaska Shootout- California vs. Marshall- Maybe you’ll tune in to this while eating a leftover turkey sandwich. Gabs Take- Cal by 5.
No commentsT.O. Won’t Send A Get Well Card To McNabb
ESPN.com is reporting that Terrell Owens said “absolutely not” when asked if he would send a get well text message to now injured Donovan McNabb. I give this until the end of the day for some ESPN homer to take it and run with it, and accuse Owens of being something. What the something will be….I don’t know yet, but it’ll be something negative.
In regard to Owens, I would ask people this: First, why would a reporter even ask a question like that to an athlete? Because they want a story, they figure Owens will pop off and say something pressworthy. Second, why would Owens send him a “get well” wish? The two don’t speak, it’s well known that they don’t have a relationship anymore. I’m not sending McNabb a get well card either, and I don’t like him, but that doesn’t mean I would wish injury on the guy. Was Owens asked if he would be sending a get well card to LaMont Jordan as well? ESPN is to sports what MTV is to Music. A joke. Unfortunately, in the case of sports, ESPN is a necessary evil.

No commentsNC State Tops Valparaiso
Ok, I know I shouldn’t get excited about wins over Valparaiso, but I am. Looks like the Pack played solid defense again tonight, and got good contribution from Gavin Grant, Brandon Costner, and Courtney Fells.
I honestly expected this thin Pack team to lose one or some of these early season so called mismatches. I guess we’ll find out next week when the Pack hosts Michigan what the real deal is. I couldn’t make tonights game, I was home editing another video, but I’m really wanting to get back in the RBC and see this team play again.
