Turkey Day NFL Games

In case you never got a chance to see the now deleted videos, GarageGabs took Detroit, Dallas, and Kansas City on Thanksgiving day. I was pleased with the results but felt like I should have taken all three games. I totally forgot the whole Joey Harrington returning to Detroit story, and had I remembered it, I would have taken Miami. Either way, 2 outta 3 ain’t bad. Here’s our take on each game.
Miami 27 Detroit 10  Really happy to see Harrington come in and beat his old team. The big news out of this game was the way Detroit handled the entire situation. The Lions, in a classless move, announced Harrington’s name as an offensive starter for the Dolphins. The plan was to introduce the Dolphins defense, and the Lions offense…..which Detroit did, but threw in Harrington obviously giving the fans an opportunity to BOO Harrington. Personally, I think this was a classless move. Harrington isn’t what was wrong with Detroit, management is/was the problem. Also, while it is no secret that Harrington played some bad football while with Detroit, he was never classless, and didn’t deserve to be treated the way he was. Detroit, you got what you deserved!
Tampa Bay 10 Dallas 38 The big story out of this one was Tony Romo. Kid threw for 306 yards, and 5 TD! Dallas is coming on very strong, and the upcoming week’s game with the Giants is going to be a classic. My one fear: Tony Romo is getting TOO confident. The Romo Hype wagon is getting TOO big, he’s getting TOO full of himself, which is setting not only him, but Dallas fans up for failure. Bill Parcells is trying to curtail things, but it’s almost impossible as the Romo snowball continues to roll downhill.
Denver 10 Kansas City 19 Larry Johnson dominated this game with 157 yards and 1 TD, but of course where there’s a Shanahan, there’s a plot-line. The plot-line this time was Jake Plummer. Shanny and most of the Denver fan base seem to be all for benching Plummer and bringing in untested rookie Jay Cutler. I’m still waiting for someone to mention that Denver only rushed for 38 yards the entire game…..while Plummer didn’t play great….he didn’t make a monumental mistake either. Yo Denver….Plummer didn’t lose that game for ya…your screwed up backfield did! At some point, having a lot of great running backs come through your system becomes a negative….I believe it has reached that point in Denver.  .John Elway couldn’t win big-time without a big-time back, Jake Plummer can’t either. That being said, a Super Bowl isn’t in the cards for a Jake Plummer led Broncos.
