Tony Romo Sends Simpson Packing

Looks like Tony Romo listened to Hitler. The NYDaily News is reporting that Romo has informed Simpson that they’d be better off as friends. Good riddance! I’ve had kind of an odd stance on this issue since it began. I mean, the man’s private life is his private life. If he wants to date celebrities, then more power to him. However, I had a feeling that this would become an issue…rather a distraction, and sure enough, it did. Do I think Simpson is the reason Romo had some bad moments? Nah. I do think she’s a distraction to the team though. All this really goes to show you that looks aren’t everything. This is just the case of another smoking hot girl & a guy that wants to get rid of her. Oh well.
Tony Romo Punts Jessica Simpson
*UPDATE*
Seems this story is false, Jessica says the two are still together.

A brilliant spin on the movie “Downfall” in which Adolf Hitler (Bruno Ganz) airs the frustrations of being a Cowboys fan. Hey, at least he won his fantasy league!
No commentsPhillips To Be Cowboys New Head Coach
Â
ESPN is reporting that Wade Phillips will be the next Dallas Cowboys head coach. As a Dallas fan, I can’t say that I’m all that excited, but honestly, I don’t really think it would have mattered much who they hired. I only say that because the crop of available coaches sucked in my opinion.
Â
Of the available choices, Phillips was probably the best, since he has had major success with the 3-4 defense…most recently in San Diego. Also, I think Phillips is simply going to keep the seat warm in Dallas, until Jason Garrett is ready to take over as head coach. Garrett was hired by Dallas, but his job has not yet been defined. It has been speculated that he will be the offensive coordinator, so the hiring of Phillips makes even more sense.Â
Â
I’m very happy it wasn’t Norv Turner. I believe Turner’s days as a top offensive play caller are over, and in fact he may be a bit burnt out. IIf Wade is anywhere near as popular as his father(Bum Phillips) was in Texas, he should be just fine.
Â
In other Cowboys news Terrell Owens has said that he hopes Phillips does a better job of coaching than Bill Parcells so that he can catch the ball better.
Â
Anyway, on to a new era in Dallas.

3 commentsPersonal Foul

Dallas used Giant mistakes and Martin Gramatica’s leg to pull out a 23-20 victory over the New York Giants today. The Giants lost their cool at times today, called for 4 personal fouls, and newly signed Martin Gramatica nailed a 46 yard field goal for the win.
I enjoyed todays victory for several reasons.
1. It gives Dallas a 2 game lead in the East with only 4 to play.
2. It came at the expense of the Giants….and Jeremy Shockey.
3. Tony Romo didn’t play well….but they still won, mainly in part to his excellent 4th quarter play. I’ve been waiting for him to have a “bad game” and still find a way to win it. The guy needed some humility, or to come “back to earth” so to speak. I’m hoping today did it.
4. Because I called it, 2 weeks ago. And because Mike from NC, and his wife called in and said the Dallas kicking game was awful!
All that said, I gotta give it up for Eli Manning. The kid played great today, avoided major mistakes, ran around in the pocket, and made every play he needed to. He also got a little hot under the collar a couple times, which I thought was promising.
No commentsT.O. Won’t Send A Get Well Card To McNabb
ESPN.com is reporting that Terrell Owens said “absolutely not” when asked if he would send a get well text message to now injured Donovan McNabb. I give this until the end of the day for some ESPN homer to take it and run with it, and accuse Owens of being something. What the something will be….I don’t know yet, but it’ll be something negative.
In regard to Owens, I would ask people this: First, why would a reporter even ask a question like that to an athlete? Because they want a story, they figure Owens will pop off and say something pressworthy. Second, why would Owens send him a “get well” wish? The two don’t speak, it’s well known that they don’t have a relationship anymore. I’m not sending McNabb a get well card either, and I don’t like him, but that doesn’t mean I would wish injury on the guy. Was Owens asked if he would be sending a get well card to LaMont Jordan as well? ESPN is to sports what MTV is to Music. A joke. Unfortunately, in the case of sports, ESPN is a necessary evil.

A highlight video I put together a couple years ago. I actually recorded all the highligts in this video with a VCR back in the day.

Cowboys’ Defensive Flurry Hands Colts First Loss
I’ve always had a lot of respect for Tony Dungy and Peyton Manning. That doesn’t mean I have to like either of them. In case you were wondering, I don’t. They each made comments in reference to yesterdays loss to Dallas that only added fuel to my fire.
