Turkey Day NFL Games

In case you never got a chance to see the now deleted videos, GarageGabs took Detroit, Dallas, and Kansas City on Thanksgiving day. I was pleased with the results but felt like I should have taken all three games. I totally forgot the whole Joey Harrington returning to Detroit story, and had I remembered it, I would have taken Miami. Either way, 2 outta 3 ain’t bad. Here’s our take on each game.
No commentsThanksgiving Preview
Well, I’m going to be out of town tomorrow for the Holidays, so I figured I’d go ahead and give a rundown of what to look for tomorrow on television. All times are EST.
9 am- ESPN 2- High School Football- Phillipsburg (NJ) @ Easton (PA)- Gabs Take- Well, if you are one of those people that is stuck cooking early in the morning, you might want to tune the television in to one of the longest standing Thanksgiving traditions in High School Football. Tomorrow morning marks the 100th meeting between these two schools, and the game will be aired LIVE on ESPN 2. I’ll be honest, I have no clue as to the talent level of either of these teams, but I’m still gonna make a pick- Phillipsburg 27 Easton 21
12 Noon- ESPN2- College Basketball- Arkansas vs. Southern Illinois- The Old Spice Classic tips off from Orlando Florida. Gabs Take- Arkansas by 5
12:30- CBS- NFL Football Miami @ Detroit - Best way to start Thanksgiving is with a game you don’t care about. This game qualifies for me. Gabs Take- Detroit 20 Miami 17
2:00- ESPN2- College Basketball- Marist vs. Minnesota-Old Spice Classic- Ok, you can watch this game if you don’t care about football. Gabs Take- I’ll take the Gophers by 15.
4:30- FOX- NFL Football- Tampa Bay @ Dallas- Hopefully I won’t be passed out from stuffing myself at this point. Gabs Take- Dallas 27 Tampa Bay 13
7:30- ESPN2- College Basketball- Virginia Tech vs. Western Michigan- More of the Old Spice Classic. Gabs Take- Tech by 10.
8:00- NFL- NFL Football- Denver @ Kansas City- Won’t matter, you can’t watch this game unless you’ve got the ticket. The NFL is gradually slipping away from the common man. Gabs Take- Kansas City 21 Denver 13
8:00- ESPN- College Football- Boston College @ Miami- Here’s to hoping the Eagles turn Miami into a turkey. Gabs Take- Boston College 28 Miami 17
9:30- ESPN2- College Basketball- Old Spice Classic- Montana vs. West Virginia- I’ll be watching Grey’s Anatomy with my girlfriend by this point. Gabs Take- West Virginia by 20
Midnight- ESPN2- College Basketball- Great Alaska Shootout- California vs. Marshall- Maybe you’ll tune in to this while eating a leftover turkey sandwich. Gabs Take- Cal by 5.

Everyone already knows Ohio State beat Michigan 42-39 today. The question to be answered is should the teams meet again for the National Championship. Honestly, I think it could, and quite possibly should happen, but it is important to wait and see what happens with Florida, Notre Dame, USC. No matter what team you feel should face OSU for the championship, this weekends turn of events only make it more clear that the BCS needs to be abolished. How can a championship games participants be determined by what a computer says? Anyway, on to todays results. VSÂ
Well, it’s going to be a stretch, but I’m going to field an entire fantasy football roster consisting of sleeper/tweener type players. There will be no Peyton Mannings or Larry Johnsons. The roster will include 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 “slash”, 1 TE, and 1 Defense. For the purposes of this exercise, no kicker will be needed. I will put my sleepers up against a team of studs (with no care of mathcups) and see how things turn out. We’ll use a very basic scoring system- This is all really just for kicks, I do think some of the tweeners are decent starts.
TD- 6 points
10 rush/rec yard - 1 point
20 pass yards - 1 point
Subtract 2 points for any turnover
Defense: 10 points for shutout- Subtract 2 points for every 6 points allowed thereafter- 1 point per sack, 2 points for any turnover, 6 points for a TD-
1 commentNFL Week 11 Picks- Video
I decided to do video for the picks this week, figuring it would save me lots of typing.
So, here it is, via google. Sorry about the quality, we are working on improving this.
No commentsNFL Picks, Week 10, Results
In my first “official” week of making NFL picks I posted a horrible 7-9 record. I honestly believe I could have done better if I had blindfolded myself and thrown darts at a map. There were a lot of upsets this week, here is a look back at each game.
No commentsNFL Hits & Misses- Week 10
Well, this was my first week publicly sharing what I thought was my “knowledge”. Somehow, my fantasy team does well, even though I obviously don’t have a crystal ball.
