Let The Arguing Begin…..It’s Florida!

Just like I told you a few weeks ago, Florida will play Ohio State for the National Championship. Florida of course, beat out Michigan for the #2 spot. I’m not even going to get into the argument of who actually deserves to be #2. Maybe the NCAA likes the BCS system because it stirs up a lot of conversation about college football? I really don’t get why it hasn’t been fixed yet, especially given the success of other college tournament formats.
I’m going to spare linking you to a bunch of stories about who should have played, or why wasn’t this team included. We all already know this routine. I’ll have a more in-depth preview of every bowl game a little later.
Anyway, here are how the BCS bowl games fell out-Â (what a moronic system)
Tostitos BCS Championship Game- Florida vs. Ohio St. (1-8-07)
Rose Bowl- USC vs. Michigan- (1-1-07)
Fiesta Bowl- Oklahoma vs. Boise State (1-1-07)
Orange Bowl- Louisville vs. Wake Forest (1-2-07)
Sugar Bowl- LSU vs. Notre Dame (1-3-07)
Finally, here is PART of the reason why this system can’t be gotten rid of:Â Ohio State coach Jim Tressel “With a 12-game season, it would be next to impossible to have a 16-team playoff,” he said Sunday. “We’ll continually improve the system. As you look at it over the past few years, it has gotten better and better.”

First a moment of silence for one of the most legendary coaches in college football.
Suddenly, a day before the biggest college football game of the year, it’s all put in perspective for us. The guy never had a losing season….not one. He played for Woody Hayes, then in his 1st season as head coach of Michigan, knocked off Hayes’ undefeated Buckeyes. His teams reached TEN Rose Bowls! Thirteen Big 10 Titles! Just an amazing turn of events. He helped make this game what it is. Schembechler was still going, even in his final week of life, (he passed while doing a tv show) and was looking foward to tomorrows game.
“I’m as excited as you are about this game,” he said. “Because I love to see Ohio State and Michigan come down to the end and, ‘let’s play it.’”

Dead Schembechlers I bet these guys are feeling like asses right about now

No commentsPee Wee Football Parents Attack
CNN is running a story today on some parents that got into a fight at a Pee Wee football game. Keep in mind, these were 5-6 year old kids, and from the video, it appears the parents/coaches were fighting due to calls made on the field? The one guy says that the referees need to “take control of the game”….are you kidding me? Also, why does it seem all the people fighting are overweight? I’m just sayin.
Seriously folks, if you are taking a 5 year olds game THAT seriously…….you need help. And people wonder why we see continuous brawls at the college and pro level.
You’ll have to watch a short commercial.
Pack Falls Short At Clemson
After falling behind 14-0 the Pack rallied for 14 points in the 3rd quarter, only to fall to Clemson, 20-14. All I gotta say is you heard it here first. There was a late turnover involved, as Daniel Evans threw an interception with the Pack trailing 17-14. Clemson turned that into a field goal, leaving the Pack with less than a minute to score a go ahead TD. State came within inches of winning as Chris Dunlap hauled in a 38 yard would be TD pass, but missed getting a foot in bounds by inches.
Pack Pride is teasing this story as “Pack’s Bowl Hopes Dashed By Tigers”.
Please stop saying State had bowl hopes.
No commentsNC State @ Clemson
NC State travels to Clemson today, to take on the Tigers at Noon. PackPride is calling this a “huge conference game for both teams”. YEAH RIGHT! It may be huge for Clemson, but how huge can it be for the 3-6 Wolfpack? Sorry, I’m gonna file this one under the “who cares” category, because I don’t care until Chuck Amato is gone.
Here is a preview for those that do care.
Oh, I guess I can still give a prediction:
NCSU 20
Clemson 31
I predict the Wolfpack will get down early, then battle back to make it an interesting game in the 3rd quarter. Then they will do one or all of the following, which will turn the game over to Clemson.
1. Turn the ball over at least twice
2. Have several false start/offside calls
3. Commit a personal foul

Â
Really sad news. I grew up watching this guy coach, and actually got to see him in person at Super Bowl XXIII. Come to think of it, that was his last game with the 49ers. He truly revolutionized the game of football.Â
No commentsHitler Speech Used During Pre-Game Soccer Warmup
A very disturbing story out of Charlotte, NC. It seems that a Hitler speech was played throughout the stadium before a high school soccer game. They are making it out to be sort of an accident, but I don’t think things like this happen on accident.
Read about it here.
No commentsSidney Lowe Discusses NC State Opener
New NC State basketball coach Sidney Lowe discusses tomorrow nights opener vs. Wofford. I’m going to try and attend this game to get a feel for this years Wolfpack team. I have a feeling it is going to be a long year. (This feeling is not unique when it comes to State fans)

No commentsNiners Leaving San Francisco?
ESPN is reporting that the 49ers may be on their way out of San Francisco for Santa Clara or somewhere else in California. Kind of sad, as a lot of NFL history has gone down in Candlestick Park.
No commentsToomer Done, McGahee Out Indefinately
Really tough news for NFL good guy Amane Toomer. It appears he is done for the season due to a partial ACL tear. Tim Carter figures to benefit from this, but isn’t really a hot pickup for fantasy owners.
Willis McGahee is out indefinately with broken ribs. Fantasy owners better jump on Anthony Thomas quick!
